Small Projects Istanbul – SPI, (Registered name: “Zeytin Ağacı Derneği”) is an independant NGO operating a Community Center in Istanbul, dedicated to helping displaced families rebuild their lives. SPI supports community development through delivering quality programs and activities for social cohesion, education support, and empowerment; in line with community needs and desires. SPI is currently recruiting for a new member to join our team for the position of Programs and Volunteers Coordinator.

Role Summary:
This role is responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation and communication of SPI’s Community Center program schedule, in order to ensure smooth management and delivery of the activities program. This role is also responsible for engaging, coordinating and supporting new and existing volunteers to facilitate SPI’s activities program.
Main Responsibilities:
Programming
- Plan and coordinate the Community Center’s internal and external program activities, with volunteers, partners and team members
- Create and maintain monthly schedule of SPI’s activities, and ensure communication of the schedule to SPI team members, volunteer facilitators and relevant partners
- Support the Program Manager in the development of new internal / external programs and activities, in line with community needs and desires
- Maintain programming budget and track expenditures/transactions
- Carry out internal monitoring and evaluation processes for programs and activities, support Program Manager in the development and improvement of internal processes
Volunteers
- Receive and respond to volunteer applications, adhere to due diligence in vetting applications and ensuring a fair selection process
- Ensure smooth delivery and implementation of the community center activities through suitable volunteer recruitment and placement
- Responsible for volunteer induction and training in their specific program / activity delivery roles
- Maintain up-to-date volunteer database
- Maintain frequent communication with volunteers to ensure they are fully equipped with required materials and resources for their activities
- Provide ongoing support and feedback to ensure a quality volunteer experience
- Ensure that volunteers carry out internal monitoring and evaluation processes; responsible for creating/improving tools to measure progress, assess training and/or other needs related to reporting and accountability.
- Εnsure compliance and implementation of all SPI policies and practices by volunteers
Other requirements:
- Fluent in Turkish and English both verbal and written, Arabic speaking is a bonus
- Bachelor degree in social studies or similar
- Highly skilled in communications, capable of building positive relations with volunteers,
team members and beneficiaries (children, youth and families) - Experience in volunteering locally and/or internationally
- Knowledge in MS Office
- Ability to work with a diverse team
Time Commitment:
Full time, 40 hours / 5 days per week, spread over weekdays and weekends, mostly in the Community Center facility, expectation to attend all internal meetings, may be required to attend external sector events (team meetings/ conferences/ trainings etc)
